We are delighted to share our news that we have been announced as finalists in the Scottish Beer Awards.
Our Kentwood Wee Heavy made it to the finals in the “Best British Style Ale” category in what is the inaugural year of the awards.
We set out on this journey to do what we love doing… making great beer. And as a very small microbrewery we are able to be flexible and creative and spend a lot of time on developing our styles. We are also aiming to keep some of Scotland’s traditional beer styles alive by creating them with our own added flair. This is exactly what we did with the Wee Heavy.
The creation of the Wee Heavy was done in homage to Fowler’s Brewery who were well known for this beer style and with whom we share our origins in Prestonpans.
We believe we have achieved what we set out to do by creating a Wee Heavy that was as good as (or better than) the one created by Fowlers.
The final of the Scottish Beer Awards is on 29th September 2016 at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. Not sure we can contain ourselves until then.
